Fan Dance Basics
4-class Burlesque Fan Dancing Series
Fan dancing is one of the most glamorous, emblematic and mysterious skills in the Burlesque world! In this 4-week hands-on movement course, students will work directly with Amara Strutt to develop the physical and artistic skills of Burlesque feather fan dancing. Each week, students will increase their repertoire of moves with hand-held fans, and learn fan dance choreography. At the end of this course, students will be able to execute a 3 minute fan dance, and have a foundation for creating their own fan dance.
No Burlesque, dance, or movement experience is required. This class is the minimum required foundation for those interested in taking the more intermediate Fan Dance classes. Class format is a weekly group class, and additional weekly “lab” time to practice new skills and receive personal attention!
Students must provide their own fans. Handheld Mirabeau feather fans are ideal, although students may also make their own or obtain another style.
