Miss AuroraBoobRealis

Miss AuroraBoobRealis lights up the night stage with her unique mixture of raw and earthy, wild and fearless burlesque! She is a performing artist creating in the intersections of burlesque, dance, theater and poetry. Central to her existence is the fact that Aurora cannot and will not separate herself from her art, race, or political beliefs. She has a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College and an M.F.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts from Goddard College with a focus on 20th Century Black Radical Artists and the intersections of dance, poetry, and theater.

She is the co-founder of Brown Girls Burlesque, and most recently brASS: Brown RadicalAss Burlesque. In 2018 brASS Burlesque’s monthly show in Brooklyn, Compost Bin: A RadicalASS Cabaret to Deal with the World, was featured in the New York Times! In 2019 Compost Bin was featured in Teen Vogue!

As a burlesque instructor she has taught foundation courses as well stand alone classes. Her most successful single class Bump It, Grind It, Bend It, Bring It: Musicality and Stage Presence received rave reviews from participants at BurlyCon as well as in Austin, Portland, Richmond, D.C. and NYC. She brings her wealth of experience and skills she’s honed as a fitness instructor and teaching artist to the table as a burlesque instructor. Aurora’s classes are super fun, accessible for all bodies and abilities and grounded in an understanding that she isn’t trying to teach people to dance like her, instead she is helping to expand their movement vocabulary so they can be more fully themselves.
