CHAIRography

Intermediate Burlesque Skills

Master the art of chair dance!

In this 6 week intensive we’ll explore all the different ways to integrate the most common of burly props -the chair – into your acts. Classes will include bump and grind dance instruction and fun group choreography that has been specially designed to teach basic through intermediate chair skills. At the end of the series you’ll have the opportunity to show off your sassy new skills in a group performance at an Academy recital.

What to Wear – comfortable dance or yoga clothes that are easy to move in. The first four classes will be taught in bare feet and low to medium heels with a strap (such as character shoes or ballroom shoes) are optional for the last two classes.

Intermediate skill level – This class is designed for students that have a few movement classes under their belt and a basic knowledge of burlesque dance steps. Choreography includes floor work and therefore may not be appropriate for people with serious knee and back injuries.
